Cookies and local storage

What this website and the Pinok apps store on your device, and why.

Last updated October 20, 2026

Draft — pending legal review. This page describes how Pinok works today, but it isn’t in force yet. Items in [brackets] are still to be confirmed.

In short

  • This website sets no cookies, runs no scripts and has no analytics.
  • The Pinok web app sets no cookies either. It keeps your session, a working copy of your workspace and changes not yet sent in your browser’s local storage, so it opens instantly and nothing you do is lost.
  • Everything it stores is needed for the service you asked for. If we ever add analytics, we will update this page first.

This website

The site you are reading sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It runs no scripts at all (its security policy forbids them), and its fonts and images come from the site itself. The contact form posts your message to our API, which stores it and sends you back to this site; it sets no cookie either.

The web app

The Pinok web app doesn’t use cookies. It signs in with a token it sends itself, and keeps what it needs in your browser’s localStorage, on this browser only:

WhatWhyRemoved
Your session (session) Keeps you signed in. A browser has no keychain, so the app’s strict security policy is what keeps other scripts away from it. When you sign out or delete your account
A working copy of your workspace (workspace) The tasks, comments and people you can see, so screens open instantly and work offline. When you sign out
Changes not sent yet (sync-outbox, sync-failed, sync-cursor) So nothing is lost if the tab closes before a change reaches the server, and the next sync starts where the last one ended. When you sign out
Your calendar feed’s link So the calendar sheet can show it again on this browser. When you sign out
Small preferences for this browser (account-workspace, device-prefs, nudges.v1) The workspace you last opened, when you last looked at each project, and the nudges you sent today. When you clear the browser’s site data

The iPhone and Android apps

The phone apps keep the same working copy in the app’s own storage, and your session in the iPhone’s Keychain or Android’s Keystore. Reminders you set are scheduled on the phone. Nothing is shared with other apps.

Why there is no cookie banner

The law asks for consent before storing or reading information on your device, unless it is strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Everything above is strictly necessary for Pinok to work, so there is nothing to consent to. Analytics are not turned on; if we turn them on, we will update this page and the Privacy Policy first, and ask where the law requires it. [to confirm: the consent approach for analytics in the EU and UK]

How to clear it

  • Sign out of the web app: it sends any change not sent yet, then removes your session, the copy of your workspace and the calendar link.
  • Clear this site’s data in your browser’s settings.
  • On a phone, sign out or delete the app.
